short history of tala hospital

Re: History of Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital and Sanitarium

St. Joseph Ave., Tala, Caloocan City

Fr: https://djnrmh.doh.gov.ph/index.php/transparency/about-djnrmh

Formerly known as Central Luzon Sanitarium,DJNRMHS was established in 1940, to accommodate patients suffering from Hansen's Disease in the entire Luzon region in the Philippines. It is currently situated within the district of Tala, in Caloocan City, Metro Manila, and occupies 130 hectares (320 acres) of land area, from the original 808 hectares (2,000 acres).

The reduction of land area was to accommodate previous homeless treated patients who eventually settled and established their own community, called Tala.

In 1970, the hospital began treating general medical cases (non-Hansen disease patients) when there was a high success rate of treatment of the first Hansen patients from research and the advancement of procedures done within the current medical practice. Due to the significant drop of Hansen patients the hospital then considered admission of general cases.

The hospital currently serves as the principal referral hospital for leprosy patients and the premier training and research center for leprosy care and management in the Philippines. It also serves the public health needs of community members of Tala and nearby areas.

On November 05, 2018, the Department of Health granted the Level 3 License to Operate to former Dr. Jose N. Rodiguez Memorial Hospital and now Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital and Sanitarium (DJNRMHS).

Core Values: Integrity, Compassionate, Competent, Committed, & Culture-sensitive

passion for god

Re: Rules for Life, Passion
Fr: Michele Bartholomew (2007 Dec 5). http://michelebartholomew.blogspot.com/

Lion Chaser’s Manifesto*

Quit living as if the purpose of life is to arrive safely at death.
Set God-sized goals.
Pursue God-ordained passions.
Go after a dream that is destined to fail without divine intervention.
Keep asking questions.
Keep making mistakes.
Keep seeking God.
Stop pointing out problems and become part of the solution.
Stop repeating the past and start creating the future.
Stop playing it safe and start taking risks.
Expand your horizons.
Accumulate experiences.
Consider the lilies.
Enjoy the journey.
Find every excuse you can to celebrate everything you can.
Live like today is the first and the last day of your life.
Don’t let what’s wrong with you keep you from worshipping what’s right with God.
Burn sinful bridges.
Blaze a new trail.
Criticize by creating.
Worry less about what people think and more about what God thinks.
Don’t try to be who you’re not. Be yourself.
Laugh at yourself.
Quit holding out. Quit holding back. Quit running away. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*The lion chaser refers to Beniah, one of King David’s mighty men found in 2 Samuel 23:20 (also 1 Chronicles 11:22). “Benaiah son of Jehoiada was a valiant warrior from Kabzeel, a doer of great deeds; he struck down two sons of Ariel of Moab. He also went down and killed a lion in a pit on a day when snow had fallen. [21] And he killed an Egyptian, a handsome man. … [he] snatched the spear out of the Egyptian’s hand, and killed him with his own spear. [22] …. And David put him in charge of the bodyguard.”

“As to the issue of my not having a license: a Doctor of Psychology does not need a license unless he is receiving third part payments for instance from an insurance company or an agency. I never intended to receive any pay doing psychological counseling or spiritual direction, so I never bothered about a license. In fact I have never been paid a cent for my services that Mr. Egerton refers to as “business.” It is not uncommon for professors of psychology not to obtain licenses to practice, because clinical practice is not our principal vocation.

“… I have worked as a therapist and spiritual director with clergy for 30 years after obtaining a doctorate in Counseling Psychology at Columbia University. I have never charged a fee and have never asked for or received payment. I have seen clergy of various different denominations and faiths. Like any therapist I have made mistakes…. Being a strong advocate of Church reform does not make you popular—but Jesus did not suggest that we would be popular if we try to follow Him.”

the secret behind dubai's success

2007 nov 19
the secret behind dubai’s progress

it is public knowledge here in dubai that the rulers know the oil and gas, which are the main sources of revenue for the city and the country, will not last forever. thus, the aggressive development of diverse kinds of businesses – from tourism to free zone to real estate to transportation to investment in businesses around the world. in the future when their natural resources -- which are in high demand now -- are gone, they would have established enough self-sustaining businesses to not only survive but live in the same kind of luxury they now enjoy. one manager told me, “dubai wants to be like new york in 10 years’ time!” that is how aggressive and determined the leaders and the locals of this city are. they like to make sure the money they are now getting from oil and gas are properly invested instead of wasted in a mere life of luxury. already, the tallest building in the world is being constructed here.

as christians, we know that our biological life here on earth will not last forever. while we all naturally need material resources to sustain our physical life here on earth, how much time, talent, and treasure are we investing for the building of the kingdom of god on earth and for our life hereafter? when our physical strength, our professionally trained minds, and our power and influence would have waned, what will we have to live on that will sustain us? what preparations are we doing for our inevitable flight for our final homecoming to the father’s house? how aggressive and determined are we in building god’s kingdom here on earth? what sacrifices are we wiling to make at the present time for the sake of the future?

st. paul reminds us to fix our eyes on the goal, like athletes craving for the crown of life. our former missiology professor, fr. bayani velenzuela told us that one of the secrets behind st. paul’s zeal and success as a missionary was the thought that the end of the world was near and there was no time to lose. as we end the liturgical year on sunday, feast of christ the king, allow our ruler to challenge us to waste no time to build his kingdom here on earth – as aggressively as the people of dubai. take the risk: invest in the kingdom! you will surely get a return on your investment … a hundredfold!

visualization: importance

Re: Visualization, Importance
Fr: Bo Sanchez, http://bosanchez.ph/redefine-yourself

Use The Power Of Pictures In Your Heart

When he got married, Rudy was so poor, he couldn’t even buy an electric fan. He and his wife were renting a tiny room for P90 a month. And this tiny room got warm during summer, and without a fan, it got really hot.

But even in his poverty, Rudy believed in his dreams.

He was also a great believer in having pictures to remind him of his dreams.
So he did the ridiculous. He got a newspaper, cut out a photo of an electric fan, and pinned it on their wall. And each time he saw the photo, it reminded him of his great goal in life (at that time): That he’d be able to buy an electric fan for his beloved wife.

Whenever he saw beads of perspiration on her forehead, he’d go to the photo, and “press” the switch of the fan. He focused on his dream.

Four days later, Rudy heard a knock on the door.

When he opened it, he saw his neighbor holding an old electric fan. The neighbor said he was moving out and wondered if Rudy wanted to buy his old fan for P50.

Rudy was overjoyed. “Yes!” he said.

In four days, the real fan now the replaced the photo.

The next photo he pinned on the wall was a beautiful white van. Foolish, right? How in the world can a poor man who couldn’t even buy an electric fan now dream of buying a van?

But he kept on dreaming for that van and worked hard. The white van came. And so did the larger homes. Both here and
America.

Today, Rudy is a multi-millionaire. Because he had pictures that guided him through his journey….

Having photos work!

Hang In Your Heart Your Divine Self-Portrait

But I’m asking you not just to hang a photo of an electric fan on your wall.

Use the power of pictures for a more important task: Hang a photo of yourself in your heart—the kind of person God wants you to be in the future. Like Rudy, I want to you focus on that photo—your Self-Portrait—and dream big dreams.

See yourself as a holy person.

See yourself as a loving person.

See yourself as a successful person.

And see yourself as a “truly rich” person.

Redefine yourself. Now.
